The accuracy and homogeneity of concrete layers are fundamental to ensuring the safety and longevity of any engineering structure, from bridges and roads to residential and industrial buildings. In the past, verifying concrete thickness and internal structural integrity required destructive methods such as core sampling, which caused damage to the structure and was time-consuming and costly. Today, with technological advancements, non-destructive solutions have become the gold standard in structural engineering. Among the most prominent and effective of these solutions are acoustic concrete thickness gauges.
 
These devices rely on a simple physical principle: sending high-frequency sound waves into the concrete element. These waves travel through the concrete until they encounter a boundary, such as the back surface or an internal defect like a void or separation. Upon impact, a portion of the sound wave is reflected back to the surface, where it is received by a special sensor. The device measures the time it takes the wave to travel back and forth.
