Uber revealed that for security reasons, and to increase the security of its customers, it will allow the possibility of recording conversations during the trips of its cars.
Uber said it would provide the service of recording the talks to its customers in Brazil and Mexico from next December, noting that it may expand the scope of the project in other countries later, without specifying a timetable.
According to Agence France-Presse, thanks to this new feature or service, the driver or passenger can record conversations by pressing a special button to this end in the application.
The application will then ask the passenger or the customer, upon arrival, to evaluate the trip, and will then be able to report any incident and send the audio recording to the headquarters of the company "Uber", and will be protected by a special code and the recording is kept on the driver's or passenger's phone.
Drivers will not be authorized to listen to the recordings, since the cryptographic key will be in the hands of Uber alone, allowing drivers and passengers to be held accountable for privacy, the company said.
The feature was introduced in Brazil in early November to enhance the safety of Uber users.
According to a report in the Washington Post, Wednesday, Uber plans to test this feature "soon" in the United States, but this service may pose a problem under different legislation in different states of the United States on what allows registration without the knowledge of people involved in the conversation
