Special valves must also be installed to prevent the backflow of wastewater from the tank into the house in case of blockage or overfilling.
Finally, a system of periodic inspection and maintenance is essential for the tank's continued operation. Special openings are installed for regular monitoring of the wastewater level and to ensure there are no blockages or leaks in the pipes. Recommended practices require the regular emptying of septic tanks of accumulated solid waste (sludge) every one to three years, depending on the tank's size and the number of users, using specialized tankers. Neglecting this process inevitably leads to tank blockage and environmental pollution.
